Fading

Remember those pictures we used to have when we were growing up? Those that were printed on photographic paper? If you go back to those you see that the colors are fading as the years pass by. It seems that the memories are fading away in similar ways. Funny isn't it if you think that those memories will come back more colorful and vivid as we grow younger in mind - when heading to the other end of life.

Anyway, last night I found on my computer a photo, a digital one. The colors were perfect and bright but the memory was fading fast. And that made me think. Aren't memories just instantaneous feelings? You will never feel the same as on that instant the photo was taken, and that is not captured on a piece of paper or a ton of pixels, it is not even captured in the moment. It is dynamic. And this is why its beautiful.

Never could understand the obsession that so many people have with photographs. Thousands of photographs and of those only a handful will be looked again and of those still even fewer will be dug out after the years pass.

It doesn't make sense to me, mostly because I feel the same things you have written.

...and even memories are not real.
